Housing market index slips

Wednesday January 19 by Claudia bournehomes.com
The National Association of Home Builders index of the housing market slipped a point to 71 in January, an early indication that housing starts and sales may be weaker this year than in 1999, the group reported today. In December the index was at 72. Other significant housing market indicators showed the single-family sales index rising from 79 in December to 80. Home builders expect the index to rise to 77 within the next six months.
